Perchfest: Spring Edition Recap

May 31, 2022

Over 8,000 attendees joined us during Perchfest: Spring Edition, a 2-day festival benefiting Best Buddies of Northern Virginia & DC. This was the public’s first opportunity to experience Perch Putt – an 18-hole miniature putt-putt course – and enjoy a sneak peek of the food trucks – all retro-themed vehicles dating back to the '50s and '70’s which Capital One craned up to The Perch.

Guests danced to live music at Starr Hill Biergarten’s amphitheater, played lawn games, dined on a variety of food, including Sisters Thai— the next retail establishment to open at Capital OneCenter this fall—and played with adorable, adoptable puppies during the Kids Party hosted by Wolf Trap Animal Rescue.

To mark the occasion, Starr Hill Biergarten released an easy-drinking Perchfest Session IPA to enjoy at the festival, alongside 20+ other Starr Hill favorites on tap and a colossal collection of cans.  Musical acts included local bands Pebble to Pearl, Nowhere Men, Bobby Ryan Band, Klepto Radio, Run for Cover and Starting Early.

Additionally, Capital One Hall hosted a pop-up Box Office and The Watermark Hotel offered a VIP package for Perchfest guests looking for an elevated experience. Perchfest was free to attend, with a recommended donation to Best Buddies of Northern Virginia and DC. Best Buddies citizens hosted a meet-up at Perch Putt to celebrate this partnership.

"Capital One Center was delighted to present Perchfest: Spring Edition and host 8,000 Capital One associates and neighbors as we grow our dynamic programming for The Perch,” said Jonathan Griffith, Managing Director, Capital One Center.  “The Perch is a unique gathering space and we were proud to team up with both Wolf Trap Animal Rescue and Best Buddies and elevate their important community work.”

Didn’t make it to Perchfest? Starr Hill has live music every Wednesday - Sunday evening, so it feels like Perchfest every time you visit! Check out their schedule here.

About Wolf Trap Animal Rescue

Founded in 2015, Wolf Trap Animal Rescue is a 501(c)(3)non-profit organization with the primary mission to operate a life-saving animal rescue transport and adoption program. These transports operate weekly, where hundreds of homeless puppies and kittens are relocated from Mississippi to awaiting foster homes in Northern Virginia. Relocating these pets helps to prevent shelters from overcrowding and unnecessary euthanasia—providing the only hope for these pets to find a home. Once transported into WTAR’s foster program in Northern Virginia, rescued pets are provided all the necessary veterinary care and training they need until they find their perfect forever home through WTAR’s adoption program. Since 2015, Wolf Trap Animal Rescue has rescued and adopted nearly 10,000 homeless pets in need.
